The postseason just got sweeter for Stanford women's basketball as it locked in a spot in the Sweet 16 in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

It was no easy feat getting there as the Cardinals (30-5) went to overtime in their second-round matchup against Iowa State on March 24. They survived the Cyclones (21-12) knocking them out of the tournament with an 87-81 victory. Forward Kiki Iriafen put her team on her back, carrying them with a 41-point performance that ended with a double-double.

With Iriafen firing off on all cylinders, Stanford notched its 29th Sweet 16 appearance in program history.

They face NC State who earned a No. 3 seeding in the Portland 4 region. The Wolfpack (29-6) were in a dogfight of their own taking on Tennessee in the second round of the tournament. They won the game 79-72 with guard Aziaha James leading them with 22 points.

The Cardinals will look to contain James and NC State to advance to the Elite Eight.
