What channel is Michigan vs. Michigan State basketball today? Time, TV, streaming info

Though it has come in the middle of a disappointing season for both programs, the latest installment of one of the Big Ten’s fiercest rivalries will take place this week.

Michigan and Michigan State men’s basketball will square off Tuesday night at the Breslin Center in East Lansing for the first of two regular-season meetings in 2023-24. While both the Spartans and Wolverines have underwhelmed relative to preseason expectations, the two aren’t exactly in identical spots.

Before an 81-66 loss on Friday at No. 6 Wisconsin, Michigan State had won three games in a row and eight of its past 10 contests following a disastrous 4-5 start. At 12-8 overall, 4-5 in the Big Ten and No. 25 in the NCAA’s NET rankings, a path to the NCAA Tournament exists for Tom Izzo’s squad, particularly with nine of its final 11 regular-season games coming against unranked opponents.

Michigan's situation is more dire. The Wolverines are enduring one of their worst seasons in recent memory, at 7-13 overall and 2-7 in the Big Ten. Juwan Howard’s team has lost eight of its past nine games, the past three of which have been decided by at least 10 points. The rut has raised questions about Howard’s future at his alma mater and put Michigan in serious danger of its first losing season in 14 years.

The Wolverines lead the all-time series 104-88, though the Spartans have won seven of the past 11 matchups. Here's everything you need to know about the game, including time, date, TV and streaming info, and more:

The matchup between the Wolverines and Spartans will not air on linear television.

Instead, it can be viewed only on Peacock, NBC’s streaming platform. The arrangement is part of a media rights deal the Big Ten signed with multiple networks, including NBC, that took effect on July 1, 2023 and that will run through the 2029-30 athletic calendar. As part of the contract, Peacock will have up to 47 men’s basketball games a season on its platform.
