Never let a rivalry trophy get out of your sight in the hours after you win it.

Central Michigan coach John Bonamego’s wife Paulette posted a picture of John sleeping with the Victory Cannon trophy in the hours after the Chippewas’ 25-28 win over Western Michigan.

CMU needed a comeback in the rain to win the cannon for the first time since 2013 and the for the first time in Bonamego’s tenure. After trailing 28-14 at the start of the third quarter, Central Michigan scored 21-unanswered points.

After tying the game, the Chips also had this crazy kickoff they recovered after it bounced off a Western Michigan player. It didn’t directly lead to points, however.
