Celtics injury update: Boston to sit star forward Jaylen Brown vs. Utah Jazz Friday

The Boston Celtics announced on Thursday evening that they will be without the services of All-Star forward Jaylen Brown for the first game of their annual West Coast swing, who will miss the Celtics tilt with the Utah Jazz on Friday as he continues to work through an evidently lingering hamstring injury.

Brown has played several games since returning from the injury initially, and it remains unclear as to whether this is a precautionary measure on the front end of the team’s back-to-back games, with the game against the Jazz followed on Saturday with another against the Portland Trail Blazers, or a re-injury of the hamstring in Boston’s home win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.

Moving to be extra cautious with the Georgia native is the right call, and given he did not look himself over the team’s last several games, taking a night off to rest is the right call no matter the details of the situation.
