CCBL ROUNDUP: Hunter Hines hits 10th home run, Pinson shines in start

Smith Pinson (Kennesaw State) got the start for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (19-14-1) and turned in six shutout innings, and only allowed five hits leading his Red Sox to the 11-1 win over the Bewster Whitecaps (13-20-2). Hunter Hines hit his league-leading tenth home run, a two-run shot as part of a five-run fifth inning. Hines is the first Cape Cod Baseball League player to eclipse the 10-home run mark since Bobby Dalbec's 12 for the Orleans Firebirds in 2015. Hines also added a pair of runs scored in the win. UC Irvine's WIlliam Gleed also had a big day at the plate. The sophomore had two hits and three RBIs in the win. The Red Sox scored five in the fifth, and three in both the seventh and eighth before the game was called due to darkness.

LSU's Jared Jones hit a pinch-hit solo home run in the seventh for Brewster's lone run.

Hyannis Harbor Hawks 5, Harwich Mariners 3

After falling behind 2-0 after an inning and a half, the Harbor Hawks (21-12-2) scored in each of the second, third, four, and fifth, to seize control of the game and beat the Mariners (15-19-1) to win their fourth straight game. Florida State's Cameron Smith. Grand Canyon's Zachary Yorke, South Florida's Eric Snow, and Ohio State's Trey Lipsey each had an RBI for Hyannis.

Ali Camarillo led the way for Harwich in the loss with a pair of RBIs, and Dukes Devin Obee had an RBI and a run scored.

Cotuit Kettleers 14, Wareham Gatemen 4

The Kettleers improved to 23-10-1 with a win over the Gatemen (12-20-2), and clinched their spot in the playoffs. The Ketlleers used the long ball to fuel their offense, with four home runs. College of Charleston's Cole Mathis hit his seventh home run of the season as part of a 2-for-5, two-RBI day at the plate. Penn State's Grant Norris also went 2-for-5 with a home run, and had two RBIs and a two runs scored. Tulane's Teo Banks had a home run and three runs scored, and Stanford's Trevor Haskins had four hits including a home run, scored three runs, and drove in three. On the mound, Oklahoma State's Janzen Keisel got the start, and struck out four over five scoreless innings.

Arizona's Tommy Splaine finished with a game high two RBIs for the Gatemen (12-20-2), and LSU's Josh Stevenson scored twice in the loss.

Falmouth 13, Bourne Braves 3

Travis Bazzana (Oregon State) led the Commodores (17-16-2) offensively. The junior went 3-for-5 a triple, a double, and five RBIs. His Beavers teammate Gavin Turley also had a triple to go along with three RBI's and two runs scored. Dallas Baptist's Nolan Humphreys had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four runs scored, and an RBI. On the mound UCLA's Michael Barnett earned the win in his start, going 5.2 innings and giving up two runs.

Bourne falls to 17-16-1 this season with the loss. Connor Bodine (Coastal Carolina) hit a home run in the loss, and had a pair of hits.

Chatham Anglers 6, Orleans Firebirds 3/Orleans Firebirds 4, Chatham Anglers 3

In the first game of a the double header, Florida's Deric Fabian had two hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored to lead the Anglers to the seven-inning win. Fabian hit a two-run home run in the fourth to give the Anglers the lead for good. Oklahoma State's Tyler Wulfert chipped in two RBIs in the win, and Pittsburgh's Jayden Melendez had a solo home run and scored twice. Jo Oyama (UC Irvine), reached base three times, drove in a run, and scored twice in the loss for the FIrebirds.

In game two, Orleans walked off the Anglers courtesy of a sacrifice fly off the bat of Georgetown's Owen Carapellotti. Oyama also had a big part to play in this seven inning game, with three hits, including his second home run of the season, an RBI, and two runs scored. Eddie Micheletti Jr. (George Washington) added four hits, and two RBI's in the win. Vanderbilt's Greysen Carter pitched 3.1 innings in his start, and struck out six.

Chatham ended the day with a record of 10-21-2, while Orleans sits at 17-16.
