HARRISONBURG, Va. WHSV) - The James Madison baseball team lost to College of Charleston, 14-7, Friday evening in the series opener between the two teams in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
After the Cougars scored a run in the third inning, Tanner Steffy led off the top of the fourth inning with a home run to double their lead. James Parker led off the bottom of the fourth inning with his seventh homer of the year, then Luke Stageberg led off the fifth inning with a home run. After a 43-minute lightning delay, the Cougars scored three more runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-1 lead.
Following Sunday’s loss to Virginia, Clemson coach Monte Lee said the Tigers needed to do a better job of finishing at all phases of the game … pitching with two strikes, playing defense with two outs and picking up runners at the plate with two outs. Unfortunately for Lee, his team did not show much improvement on Tuesday in a 13-6 loss to the College of Charleston at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson. I don’t know what the answer is,” Clemson head coach Monte Lee said.
