Cardale Jones signs with Canadian Football League team

Former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones is back in football, but north of the border this time. And while he’s back in the game, he replaces another former OSU quarterback, J.T. Barrett on the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League.

Barrett has ping-ponged around during his career and was placed on the retired list because of an injury he suffered in the spring that would have had him miss the entire season.

For Cardale Jones, it’s another chance to show what he can do. The last time we saw 12-gauge, he was playing for the D.C. Defenders during the XFL 2020 season. He started out that experiment on fire but then showed some inconsistent play as the season wore on. We also got a peek of Jones throwing passes to OSU receivers during the Buckeyes’ pro day back in March.

It’s a little bit of history repeating itself with Jones replacing Barrett, and we’ll have to see if there’s some sort of championship at the end of this one too just like the 2014 Ohio State season.
