Captain Shreve’s Devin Harper says he’s headed to Calvary Baptist

Devin Harper, one of the top 2025 offensive linemen in the country, is apparently transferring from District 1-5A champion Captain Shreve to LHSAA Select Division III state champion Calvary for his senior season.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Harper is a four-star recruit listed as the No. 7 interior offensive lineman in the country for the next recruiting class and is a top LSU focus. He announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he is changing.

“Gator Nation, what a ride it has been! I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to put on the green and gold every Friday night and being able to go to war with my teammates, who have become brothers for life. I will never forget all the countless lessons and memories that were made. With that, I would like to thank coach Kirby, coach Sepulvado, coach Rivera and the entire gator staff for the support and guidance at Captain Shreve. With that being said, I will be attending Calvary Baptist Academy for the rest of my junior and senior year. Cavs Nation. Let’s Goooo!” Harper posted.

Captain Shreve football coach Adam Kirby recently left the school for a similar job in Magnolia, Arkansas. The Cavaliers recently won their second state football title in four years under coach Rodney Guin. Guin said he did not know if Harper was already enrolled at Calvary.

“We welcome any student who has a desire to attend CBA,” Calvary coach Rodney Guin said. “Students who reside in our district (attendance zone) are eligible to play immediately. Students who reside outside our home attendance zone must sit out a calendar year per LHSAA Rules.

“We are super excited Devin has decided to attend school in his home district attendance Zone. We lose kids each year who choose to leave Calvary and go back to their home zone. It happens every day in our area. We are excited about Devin being a part of the Calvary family.”
