Cape Cod high school boys tennis rankings: One team on the list has a 10-match win streak.

There are 13 boys tennis teams on Cape Cod, and in Friday's latest MIAA power rankings, 12 of those teams would be in the postseason.

One team on this list is on a 10-match win streak (Cape Cod Academy), while another is ranked in the top five in their division (Martha's Vineyard). Those two lead these rankings, but there all three other spots up for grabs, and some honorable mentions.

Whether it's singles or doubles matches, the talent on Cape Cod is good, and the future is bright.

Presenting the first Cape Cod high school boys tennis rankings of the season.

1. Cape Cod Academy (10-1)

The Seahawks lost their first match of the season, but after their season opener jitters were gone, they have not lost a match since. They are currently on a 10-match win streak, and are unbeaten on their home court (5-0). They have four sweep wins this season.

Ben Catalano plays at first singles to lead the Seahawks, and has been on the varsity team for the last six years. Ayden Naydenov has been solid at the second singles spot, while Connor Hall and Garret Wilson are playing well at first doubles.

2. Martha's Vineyard (8-3)

The Vineyarders are the only team ranked team in the top 10 (4th). They have three losses but both are to unbeaten teams Sharon twice (first in Div. 2) and Apponequet (third in Div. 3). The Vineyarders have swept, or won 4-1, against every opponent, and are unbeaten on the road (4-0).

The junior captains Zak Potter (first singles) and Caleb Dubin (second singles) have been the leaders for the Vineyarders this season. Kyle Levy and Tommy Flynn (first doubles) and Otis Forrester and Roger Schilling (second doubles) have also played well at doubles.

3. Barnstable (10-3)

The Red Hawks have dropped matches to Martha's Vineyard, Cohasset (eighth, Div. 4) and Nauset. They avenged the loss to the Warriors as they beat them at home. Connor O'Reilly has played at third singles and first doubles and been solid at both. Brennan Reilly and Harry Baroni have also played well at singles, while Mike Higginbotham, Thomas Berger and Andy Coombs have held down the doubles matches.

4. Monomoy (7-6)

The Sharks have lost to the Vineyarders twice and Cape Cod Academy, but they also handed the Seahawks their only loss of the season. They have only been swept once this season (Martha's Vineyard). Ryan Casey (first singles) and Gavin McDonnell (second singles) have led the way for the Sharks. Roman Pavluchenko has also held his own at third singles as an eighth grader.

5. Nauset (9-4)

The Warriors only have losses to the teams above them on this list (Martha's Vineyard twice, Barnstable, and Monomoy). They also beat Barnstable in five sets at home. Senior co-captain Tom Foley, Joey Smith, Will Murphy and Soren Jones-Carlson have played well at doubles, while Lucas Wilson-Bevington (first singles), Jason White (second singles), and senior co-captain Salvi Cacciola (third singles) have played well in singles.

Honorable Mention

Sturgis West (7-1)

The Navigators have only lost one match to Cape Cod Academy (five sets). They have not played as many matches as everybody else, but they have swept their opponents in four of the six wins. Ray Zhang, Ben Bass, and George Foster have held it down at the singles, while Colby Hall, Francisco Garcia Raya, Robert Muhoy and Thomas Nutbrown have been solid at doubles.

Mashpee (8-4)

The Falcons have won five straight, but all eight of their wins this season have been against teams under .500. Despite that, they are still a good tennis team. Collin Burdge (first singles) and James Benners, and Andrew Kelley have led the way for Mashpee in singles competition.

Nantucket (5-6)

The Whalers started off the season 3-0 with a quality win over Monomoy and Plymouth South (17th, Div. 2), but have been gone 2-6 since then. They have played some tough competition with losses to Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod Academy twice, Plymouth South, and Sturgis West twice. Sam Iller and Fuller Holland have played well at second doubles for Nantucket.
