Cam Newton under fire for latest comments about women

There’s never an appropriate time to believe in nor express disrespectful, antiquated views about any person or persons—no matter their race, color, origin, religion, or gender. So the latest words to come from the mouth of Cam Newton, who already has a history of making degrading comments about women and is still currently a free agent, are particularly ill-advised, embarrassing and shameful.

The 32-year-old joined this past Sunday’s episode of the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, where he got into the topic of gender roles. While discussing what he looks for in a strong woman, Newton sounded like he jumped straight out from the 1950s.

Back in 2017, the Carolina Panthers quarterback made a dismissive remark towards Jourdan Rodrigue—who covered the team beat for The Charlotte Observer at the time. When Rodrigue specifically inquired about wide receiver Devin Funchess’ route-running, Newton seemed rather surprised of her knowledge.

“It’s funny to hear a female talk about routes,” he said with a smile. “It’s just funny.”

The irony behind Cam’s most recent comments is that he should’ve been the one to know when to be quiet.
