Cam Newton, Charles Barkley at Auburn-Georgia game in Jordan-Hare Stadium supporting Tigers

Auburn is no stranger to playing spoiler, and the Tigers look to do just that against the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs Saturday.

On hand to watch the game at Jordan-Hare Stadium is Auburn alum Cam Newton, a Heisman Trophy winner with the Tigers and an NFL MVP winner with the Carolina Panthers. Newton, who last played for the Panthers in 2021, approached the Auburn student section in his signature fashionista style, decked out in orange and blue regalia.

Newton went and posed with some of the students in the front row, giving them a great photo op in the process.

The quarterback's Auburn roots run deep: Though he played for both Florida and Auburn in college, there's no question he built his legacy in the state of Alabama. Newton played 14 games in his one season with the Tigers, completing 66.1 percent of his passes for 2,854 yards, 30 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He also rushed for 1,473 yards and an absurd 20 touchdowns en route to the third Heisman Trophy in Tigers history (following Pat Sullivan in 1971 and Bo Jackson in 1985).

Newton is just one of the Auburn legends in tow for Auburn's biggest game so far this year.

Charles Barkley also came to the game to support his old stomping grounds. The "Inside the NBA" host was wearing a Pat Sullivan t-shirt at the game.

Barkley was reportedly talking to recruits, per Justin Hockanson of On3, and Bruce Pearl as well.

Others in attendance included Nick Fairley and Frank Thomas, Auburn alumni all.

Auburn, of course, went 14-0 in Newton's near-perfect season, including a 49-31 win over the Bulldogs at Jordan-Hare. Hugh Freeze and company will look to recapture some of that magic Saturday.
