Buffalo Bills vs. New York Giants: Team connections
The Buffalo Bills (3-2) are hosting the New York Giants (1-4) in Week 5.
While a brand new NFL weekend, both teams are familiar with one another. Some players and coaches more than others.
Here’s a quick list of connections the two teams have with one another ahead of Sunday’s matchup:
OL Dion Dawkins
Dawkins is a Rahway, NJ native. His hometown is just south of New York City.
WR Justin Shorter
Similar to Dawkins, Shorter is from outside of the New York City area. He’s closer to being in between NYC and Philadelphia.
HC Brian Daboll
The headliner here is Daboll. The reason why Bills vs. Giants is on prime-time, Sunday Night Football, is because Daboll was previously Buffalo’s offensive coordinator prior to being hired in New York. He’s also a western New York native.
GM Joe Schoen
Likewise with Daboll, Scheon was the No. 2 in Buffalo before joining the Giants. He was Buffalo’s assistant general manager and the pair went to New York together.
DL Boogie Basham
Basham was a second-round pick of the Bills. With a packed depth chart, Basham was traded to the Giants just a few weeks back.
WR Isaiah Hodgins
A sixth-round selection by the Bills–The Giants claimed him off waivers in November 2022. His career has taken off since joining the G-men.
WR Cole Beasley
Beasley had two stints in Buffalo. Most notably, he was an All-Pro selection with the Bills. He spent 2019 to 2021 with Buffalo and re-signed with the team last season but failed to make much of an impact. Beasley is currently on the Giants’ practice squad.
RB Matt Breida
Breida was briefly a special teamer and depth running back for the Bills in 2021. He has spent the past two seasons with the Giants.
TE Tommy Sweeney
Sweeney was a seventh-round pick of the Bills. Buffalo did not re-sign him this offseason and went on to select Dalton Kincaid in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft/
CB Nick McCloud
McCloud was a UDFA signing by the Bills and had a second stint with the team in 2021. He was cut at the end of training camp in 2022 and the Giants picked him up.
QB Tyrod Taylor
Now a backup to Daniel Jones, the former Bills starting quarterback is with the Giants. Unlike many others listed, Tyrod Taylor previously did not work with Daboll in Buffalo. He
