Brook Lopez sets dubious 3-point record as Bucks lose by two points

Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez isn’t exactly known for his ability to shoot 3s. But with the game trending that way, the 7-foot center is trying to get better. After taking just three shots from beyond the arc during his first eight seasons in the NBA, Lopez has put up over 100 shots from 3-point land in each of the past two seasons.

He’s carried that over into 2018. Lopez is on pace to put up a career-high 3-point attempts this season. After Friday’s game against the Phoenix Suns, that might not be a good thing.

Lopez went a horrid 0-for-12 from downtown during the contest. That set the record for most 3s attempted in a game without making one.

While embarrassing, Lopez isn’t in terrible company with the record. Prior to Lopez’s performance Friday, the record was owned by Stephen Curry, Trey Burke and Antoine Walker — all three had gone 0-for-11 from 3-point range in a single game.

Lopez’s poor shooting came at an awful time. The Bucks lost the contest 116-114. Had Lopez made just one of his long-range attempts, the team could have pulled out the victory.

Despite the poor performance, Lopez may still want to put up 3s moving forward. Even after his miserable night Friday, Lopez still has a .375 field-goal percentage from beyond the arc. He’s actually been a more accurate 3-point shooter than Klay Thompson in 2018.
