Guardians manager Terry Francona said before Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Braves that, with the state of the team's bullpen, it'd certainly be helpful if Cal Quantrill could give them as many innings as possible.

But Francona added that it's easier said than done against the blazing hot Braves lineup, which lit up Quantrill in an 8-1 victory at Progressive Field.

Quantrill was torched for a career-high 11 hits to go with five earned runs in 4⅔ innings. The Braves jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, and Sean Murphy added a home run before Quantrill was removed.

The art of arguing: Not all manager-umpire arguments are the same; Terry Francona is a master of the craft

The Guardians didn't score until the ninth, when the game was well in hand.
