Brandt scores on rebound in OT to lift Boston to 3-2 win over New York

LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Hannah Brandt created a two-on-one and tapped in the rebound to give Boston a 3-2 overtime win over New York on Sunday.

Brandt intercepted a pass in the Boston end and carried the puck into New York's end before passing left to Jamie Lee Rattray. Abigail Levy stopped Rattray's shot, but Brandt was on the edge of the crease to give herself an easy second goal of the game.

The win gave Boston, sitting in the fourth and final playoff spot, some breathing room with 21 points. New York, which has lost five in a row, remains at 16 points. New York had won the previous two meetings between the teams.

Brandt opened the scoring with her third goal of the season when her centering pass along the endline deflected into the net early in the match.

Late in the second period Elizabeth Giguère got her first goal with a nice move across the top of the crease before turning and lifting the puck back over Emma Söderberg. Just over two minutes later, Jaime Bourbonnais had her third goal, a slap shot from the point that made it through traffic.

Boston's Sophie Shirley tied it at 2 at the 5:22 mark of the third period with her second goal.

Levy had a season-high 43 saves for New York, while Söderberg had 21 saves for Boston.
