Brabson's big night lifts Burt Lake NMCA boys to season-opening victory over Forest Area
FIFE LAKE – Josiah Brabson poured in 28 points and grabbed six rebounds to help fuel the Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian Academy boys basketball team to a season-opening 68-48 victory at Forest Area on Tuesday.
Josh Ferraiuolo tallied 16 points and four assists for the Eagles (1-0), who received seven points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals from Derek Vest. Jeremiah Tucker had eight points and nine boards.
“Any win is a good win, but games this early in the season really show some rust spots especially coming off the Thanksgiving break,” NMCA coach James Brabson said. “I was proud of how our young guys really stepped in this year, and it’s clear that a young guy like Jeremiah Tucker put in the work he needed to over the summer.”

NMCA returns to action when it hosts Petoskey St. Michael on Monday, Dec. 4.
Silveus nets 28, Alanson boys rout Petoskey St. Michael
ALANSON – It was an excellent start to the basketball season for the Alanson boys, who rolled to a 59-18 victory over Petoskey St. Michael on Tuesday.
Christian Silveus scored a game-high 28 points – all in the first half – and recorded four steals, while Mason Weidenhammer nearly hit a double-double with eight points and 13 rebounds for the Vikings (1-0). Other contributors were Troy Johnson, who tallied four points, seven assists and five steals, and Donavan Honeysette, who recorded six points and seven boards.
Alanson travels to face Pickford on Monday, Dec. 4.
