Boston’s Romeo Langford, Robert Williams III off the latest team injury report

If nothing out of left field ends up happening before this coming Friday evening, we may yet see second-year shooting guard Romeo Langford make his season debut. Unfortunately for Langford however, the Indiana native has made a name for himself because of things coming out of left field to affect his availability.

It’s no fault of Langford’s that he has yet to play this season, having taken longer than expected to recover from surgery on a torn tendon in his wrist sustained in the Disney bubble while playing for the team in the 2020 NBA playoffs, only to be forced into the league’s health and safety protocols the very day he was hoping to get on the floor to play his first game of the 2020-21 season.

It’s gotten to the point where internet humorists have started questioning whether the Indiana product even exists.

But Langford does indeed inhabit a space on Boston's roster -- though as of today he has cleared the team's daily injury report for the second time this season, perhaps signaling a return to action is imminent. He is joined in liberation from injury purgatory by a short-timer who ended up there unexpectedly ahead of yesterday's contest with the Dallas Mavericks -- rising big man Robert Williams III. https://twitter.com/TheCelticsWire/status/1377707659898552330?s=20

Timelord found himself a late scratch ahead of the home tilt against the Mavs with an undisclosed but non-COVID illness, and Williams has evidently improved enough to be removed from the latest injury report as well. With the Celtics reeling in the standings with the NBA's highest number of NBA games lost to players in the protocol, the return for both will be huge. For now at least, both forward Semi Ojeleye (left side strain) and center Tristan Thompson (health and safety protocols) are listed as out for Friday's tilt with the Rockets, though the latter is due to return soon according to head coach Brad Stevens.
