Boston Celtics trade Grant Williams to the Mavs in three-team deal with the Spurs

The Boston Celtics have made another significant move currently making waves in the NBA trade market by dealing away restricted free agent forward Grant Williams to the Dallas Mavericks. This swap involves signing and trading Williams, a player previously held in high regard by the Celtics and their fans, to the Dallas Mavericks’ roster for three second round draft picks and a traded player exception.

The Mavs are giving the San Antonio Spurs an unrestricted 2030 pick swap for taking on the salary of veteran shooting guard Reggie Bullock to make space for the Charlotte native on Dallas’ books, and Boston fans seem irked in the early reaction given the relatively minor return for such a talented player.

To hear more about what this trade changes for the three ball clubs involved as well as the rest of the NBA, check out the latest episode of the “Locked on Celtics” podcast embedded below.
