Bobby Wagner recalls his first game at FedExField: ‘The field was trash, for sure’

The Seahawks visit Washington tomorrow night in what will be their last primetime game of the 2021 season – assuming they don’t defy their less-than-5% chances of making the playoffs.

Seattle’s roster is pretty banged up, which is normal for this time of year. The team will be missing two key offensive linemen and two running backs this week. One thing the Seahawks won’t have to worry about is the formerly notorious playing surface at FedExField endangering their injury risk further. Bobby Wagner told reporters on Friday that during his first game at the stadium (the 2012 playoff matchup in his rookie year) the field was trash.

To their credit, the Football Team installed a new grass surface before this season began.

Heading into today’s games, Wagner ranks second in the league with 115 combined tackles. How well Wagner contains Washington’s underrated running back Antonio Gibson should be a huge factor on Monday night.
