Blue Jays Roundup: Julia Skari wins Knights of Columbus Invite

Jan. 6—JAMESTOWN — Julia Skari pretty much blew the top off the competition Friday night.

The junior for the Jamestown High School gymnastics team won three out of the four events at Jamestown's KC/Club 1883 Invite en route to her second all-around title of the year. Skari scored an all-around score of 37.800 — nearly a full point ahead of Minot's Haley Conklin who picked up second-place honors.

Skari's monstrous score contributed to the Blue Jays' podium-topping team score of 145.000. The Blue Jays have now competed at five competitions. They have earned three first-place finishes and two second-place finishes to pin themselves as one of the best gymnastics clubs in the state of North Dakota.

Jamestown's next competition is scheduled for Jan. 12 at 4:45 p.m. at American Gold Gymnastics in Fargo.

Skari's night started with a 9.600 on vault while on beam she upped the ante on beam with a 9.700. She earned top honors on floor with a 9.450 while on bars — the one event where she didn't win first place — she got second with a score of 9.050.

The Jays had several other gymnasts score within the top 10 across multiple events. On vault Jozie Davis placed fourth with a 9.250 while Sutton Van Gilder twisted her way to the fifth spot with a 9.200.

On beam, Aubrey Krapp finished with a 9.200 to place third while Madelynn Nagel scored a 9-flat en route to her fifth-place spot. Van Gilder scored 8.950 to place ninth.

Over on floor, Allysah Larson scored a 9.350 to place second and Jasmine Houmann finished fourth with a 9.000.
