Alabama coach Nick Saban says he’s too old to take another job

All is quiet in Tuscaloosa – for now.

Alabama coach Nick Saban went on his weekly radio show and tried to quell rumors of possible defection to Texas should current coach Mack Brown be relieved of his duties.

"I'm just too damn old to start all over some place else," Saban said.

Well, that should provide a small - very small - measure of comfort to anyone with an Alabama allegiance.

On Thursday, the Associated Press reported Saban’s agent met with a Texas booster following the national championship game to gauge Saban’s interest in the job. Of course, nothing came of it and Brown is still the coach in Austin.

However, in the past two weeks, Texas has played uninspired football during losses, which has caused some impatience by Brown’s critics.

If Texas could sway Saban to leave, it would be a major coup. But the only way we see that happening is if Texas were to flash an otherworldly amount of money that is too difficult to pass up. We wouldn't put that past Texas at all.
