Blake Griffin on watching Bucks win a title: ‘Man, if we just did one extra thing’

The 32-year-old veteran Blake Griffin is set to run it back with the Nets next season. Things will be different for him this time around because he will actually be a part of the team to start the campaign. Last season, he was traded to Brooklyn only two months before the playoffs.

Speaking of the playoffs, Griffin reflected on the Nets’ postseason which resulted in an elimination by the soon-to-be champions, the Milwaukee Bucks. The former Sooner admitted that his thoughts did change when he saw Milwaukee win it all, considering Brooklyn posed the biggest challenge for them on their way to glory:

“When that series started, in my mind that was kind of who was going to be in the Finals. They matched up with us pretty well. Obviously not being at full strength hurt us. It’s kind of weird watching us take them to seven games, banged up, and after that they … they didn’t necessarily handle everybody easily. But, they won in six games, six games and Giannis got hurt in the next series and ran four straight on the Suns.”

A disappointed, but yet inspired Griffin then brought things back to reality, acknowledging that this team is not far from reaching similar feats:

“It’s always tough. You always kind of sit there and think like, ‘Man if we just did this one extra thing. But that happens every season — It’s just more motivation to come back and be more focused.”

The six-time All-Star couldn’t live without finding out what this team can do at its full potential. In his words, it was a “no-brainer” to return in the black and white again.
