Bills interview Steelers’ Brandon Hunt for assistant GM position
The Buffalo Bills have interviewed a person for the vacant front office position left by Joe Schoen.
Schoen, formerly Buffalo’s assistant general manager, was hired by the New York Giants as their GM this spring.
A candidate to fill Schoen’s spot is Pittsburgh Steelers pro scouting coordinator Brandon Hunt, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. He reported on Tuesday that Hunt had an interview with the Bills for the assistant GM position.
Hunt has worked with the Steelers since 2010. He also interviewed for a lateral position with the Philadelphia Eagles in recent weeks.
Per Rapoport, Hunt is currently interviewing for Pittsburgh’s vacant lead general manager position. Former Bills general manager Doug Whaley has interviewed for the Steelers GM job twice as well.
Since Schoen’s departure Buffalo has not hired anyone to fill the role, rather, Bills GM Brandon Beane has said those responsibilities were divided up amongst others still in the team’s front office.
On May 10, Matt Bazirgan was hired by the Bills as a senior personnel executive, but evidently, an assistant general manager is still not off the table.
