Let the voting begin, the Campus USA Credit Union Athlete of the Week poll is live!
After another strong voting turnout, the polls are open once again as the winner of the Campus USA Credit Union Athlete of the Week for April 14-20 is set to be crowned. We have four nominations this week, ranging from the tennis courts to the softball fields.
Coaches, players, family and friends, be sure to share this poll and vote for who you think should win.
The poll closes Thursday at 12 p.m. and results will be announced Friday at noon.
Coaches and athletic directors, if you think a player(s) should be nominated, please send their name and weekly stats to lrooney@gannett.com by Sunday afternoon.
Gabe Garcia, Leon tennis
Stats: Won the 1 singles final 6-3, 6-4, and 1 doubles final with Gordon Nicholson 6-2, 6-3, to help lead Leon to the FHSAA Class 3A District 2 title.
Cooper Wiles, Aucilla Christian baseball
Stats: In three games. 2-for-2, 5 RBI, one home run and two walks in 26-2 win over Gadsden County, 1-for-2, 2 RBI, two walks in 8-1 win over Echols County (GA), 1-for-3, 1 RBI, one walk in 15-0 win over Community Christian Academy.
Charley Butler, Wakulla softball
Stats: In three games. Pitched six innings, one hit, no run, two walks, 10 strikeouts in a 10-0 win over Florida High. Pitched three innings, and allowed no hits, no runs, one walk and five strikeouts in an 8-2 win over Lincoln. Pitched seven innings, allowed six hits, no runs, 2 walks and 12 strikeouts in an 8-0 win over North Bay Haven.
Rachel White, Florida High flag football
Stats: Threw for two touchdowns and rushed for one touchdown in Florida High's 27-0 win over Suwannee in the FHSAA 1A Region 1 quarterfinals.
