Best XI: Week 38
What a fantastic last week of football! We had four different matches see at least four goals in each and a lot of great fantasy performers. Perhaps the best part was seeing Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard do what they do best one more time. Both players will go down as Premier League legends and it’s pleasing to see both here in the Best XI in their last Premier League appearances. Here’s the rest of the squad.
Best XI
Points
Not as high as last week, especially since a lot of the games saw a number of different scorers, but still a respectable 245 points.
Cost
This week the BEST XI cost £ 94.49M*. The new price of our Best XI (if you were to try to create this team now after the price changes) is £ 94.39M. That’s a 0.1% decrease in price. I’m not sure why the Best XI actually got cheaper this week, but I’m assuming it has something to do with it being the last match of the season.
*Keep in mind the cost does NOT include any substitutes and is thus 96M instead of 100M, which assumes one might have four £ 1M substitutes.

MVP
This week’s MVP was Theo Walcott. The Arsenal winger started the match at forward this weekend in place of Olivier Giroud and scored a quick first half hat-trick to carry the gunners to a win. Walcott has not been much of a presence this season due in part to injuries and poor form, but he can be a fantasy asset if given enough playing time next season. He’s definitely someone to keep an eye on.
Formation Count
This was fairly straightforward all season. The 3-4-3 formation is the best in the Yahoo! Premier League game and there is no question about it. It’s basically a given that forwards are by far the best plays in the game and I’ve shown that multiple times both here and in other columns. If we learned one thing this season, it’s that you must play three forwards to be successful.

4-3-3 | 5 |
3-5-2 | 5 |
4-4-2 | 4 |
5-3-2 | 1 |
Repeat Offenders
No changes here once again as we have a three-way tie between Kieran Trippier, Harry Kane, and Alexis Sanchez. Trippier is getting relegated and his future is unknown, but the other two enter next season as top fantasy options.
