Bears' Nagy backs Trubisky after falling to 3-3
Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy admitted his 3-3 team is licking its wounds after being smacked 36-25 by the New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field on Sunday.
"Something will change. Because it's not good enough right now," Nagy said. "Really, we had such a good solid week of practice and I'm speaking more offensively. This whole week of practice. It's not reflecting, not showing when it matters most. It's not.
"I'm going to be looking for who the leaders are on our team. Take control. You can only say so much and do so much. This is a tough one. It stings."
The defending NFC North champions are well back of the division-leading Green Bay Packers, who improved to 6-1 on Sunday by beating the visiting Oakland Raiders 42-24.
Nagy said he won't be making a change at quarterback and remains committed to Mitchell Trubisky.
The Bears trailed 36-10 with 4:33 remaining in the game.
In his return from a two-week hiatus that included the team's bye week, Trubisky's left shoulder appeared to be fine. He completed 34 of 54 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns.
But he repeatedly missed open receivers, including a streaking Taylor Gabriel in the first quarter, and heard it from the home crowd.
By the end of the game, "Jay Cutler" was trending on Twitter in Illinois.
"Right now, we have no identity," Trubisky said after the game. "We're just searching. ... It's just frustrating."
