Bears need to get aggressive this offseason

Bears
Bears

So much could happen for the Bears in 2017. From getting big names like Eric Berry, to signing in house players like Alshon Jeffery. If you’ve read anything I’ve wrote the last few articles, one thing is sure: I agree with spending big no matter the cost. I believe it’s time to take all risk because we’ve seen where being conservative with money has got the Bears. Although the additions of Jerrell Freeman and Danny Trevathan were great, the Bears must be willing to spend big. The Bears can’t afford to be outbid – they must pay whatever price the player wants if it’s a player worth getting.

For the first time since 2007, I watched a Super Bowl from the very beginning all the way to the end. Not that I haven’t seen a Super Bowl since, but I haven’t really cared to watch it and found myself distracted. The Bears must come to the realization that the Patriots are exactly the team they need to become. They have to do everything possible to do whatever it takes to make it happen. The quarterback of the future has to be found and Bears fans all over are sick and tired of waiting. The defense has to be fixed – never in my life have I seen such few turnovers from what used to be the most vaunted defense in the league for years.

Five Questions: Let’s make sense of Super Bowl LI!

It’s time for them to turn the corner. As a Bears fan, I can say without a doubt that just making the playoffs won’t cut it. It’s time to bring the Lombardi trophy back to Chicago. We aren’t looking for a team to win games, win a division, win a playoff game or get Pro Bowlers, All-Pro votes or MVPs. We’re looking for the only thing that’ll ease the pain of meaningless football for 32 years. It’s not about just getting there or contending, it’s about winning it all and being the best.

Ryan Pace and John Fox, it’s time to get your hands dirty. It’s time to get in a ring, go 12 rounds and win. If that means trading for Jimmy Garoppolo, then do it, no matter the price. If you believe he’s the franchise quarterback, give every first-round pick for the next ten years away. Even if that means signing pricey guys, sign them to a billion-dollar contract. The time for patience is over; it’s time to get busy. March 9th is a little over a month away, and you need to take the five-week head start the Patriots gave us and build a championship team. Good luck.
