'That's a pro in the making.' Fishers baseball star Jack Brown's poise sets him apart.

Noblesville's Aiden Reynolds is among the Millers' top run producers.

Last ranking: No. 1

Noblesville is off to a strong start, pitching its way to a win over Mooresville and using its offense to lead the way in its other wins. The Millers are averaging 9 runs per game. Trevor Corbett, Aiden Reynolds and Joe Glander have combined for 23 RBIs and 11 extra bases hits. Sophomore Beckett Doane struck out 10 in the win over Mooresville.

2. Carmel (5-0)

Last ranking: No. 2

Pitching and defense appeared to be Carmel's strength heading into the season and that's proven to be true through two weeks. The Greyhounds have allowed just eight runs in five games including shutouts against Chesterton and Covenant Christian. Theo Nagy and Nathan Koebcke combined for nine strikeouts in the shutout against Chesterton. Parker Heaney drove in four against Covenant Christian. J.D. Stein leads to offense with a .545 average and four extra-base hits.

3. Westfield (6-1)

Last ranking: No. 10

Westfield is off to a strong start thanks to its dominant pitching staff. The Shamrocks have allowed more than two runs in just one of its first seven games. Ty Anderson and Preston Tamm have two wins each, have allowed just one earned one and have combined for 26 strikeouts. Owen Swinford racked up 12 strikeouts over 4⅔ in Westfield's 1-0 loss to Clarksville Academy (Tenn.).

4. Hamilton Southeastern (5-2)

Last ranking: Unranked

HSE lost a lot of talent from last season's Class 4A state runner-up team, but the Royals have done a great job of reloading. Tyler Noel, Kam Seitz and Maddux Bach are all batting over .300 and have five RBIs. Josh Lesnieski has been a workhorse on the mound. The junior is 3-0 with a 0.91 ERA and 17 strikeouts over 15⅓ innings.

5. Center Grove (6-0)

Last ranking: No. 8

Center Grove's offense has carried it to an undefeated start through two weeks. The Trojans are averaging 11 runs per game while surrendering just 11 total runs. Noah Coy leads the offense batting.688 with eight RBIs and three doubles. Carson Bush is equally hot at the plate, batting .615 with six RBIs and four doubles.

6. Zionsville (5-3)

Last ranking: No. 3

Zionsville won its first five games, but the Eagles have stumbled a bit against tough competition. Mateo Wells went toe-to-toe with Fishers' Jack Brown, leading Zionsville to a 1-0 win over the Tigers. Wells allowed just three hits over seven shutout innings, striking out seven and walking three.

7. Fishers (5-4)

Fishers Tigers Jack Brown (3) pitches during the game against against the Zionsville Eagles on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Grand Park in Westfield.
Fishers Tigers Jack Brown (3) pitches during the game against against the Zionsville Eagles on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Grand Park in Westfield.

Last ranking: No. 5

Fishers split series with good Zionsville and Mt. Vernon teams. The Tigers' tough schedule doesn't lighten up with two games against Noblesville and one game against perennial state title contender Lake Central this week. Two-way standout Jack Brown is off to a strong start. He's batting .370 with one home run and two doubles. On the mound, Brown has not allowed an earned run in three appearances, striking out 21 and allowing just seven hits through 12 innings. The Louisville commit broke Fishers all-time hits record and innings pitched record this season. He already held the all-time wins, shutouts and strikeout records heading into the season.

8. Mt. Vernon (1-2)

Last ranking: No. 4

Mt. Vernon lost two one-run games against Franklin Central and Fishers to start the season before knocking off the Tigers in the second game of the doubleheader. The 1-2 starts needs a bit of a caveat, as neither of the team's top pitchers Cam Sullivan or Nick Heitman have taken the mound yet. The Marauders' 1-2 combo is among the best in the state, and they should have a chance to win whenever the duo takes the mound.

9. Mooresville (2-2)

Last ranking: No. 6

Mooresville sandwiched two poor offensive showings between two strong scoring games against Martinsville and Zionsville, respectively. All four games have been against quality teams, and the strong competition should set up the Pioneers well for conference play. Freshman Liam Delp leads Mooresville with a .364 batting average through four games.

10. Cathedral (2-3)

Last ranking: No. 7

Cathedral is 2-3, but the Fighting Irish have a plus-6 run differential and lost the three games by a total of seven runs. The Fighting Irish offense has led the team so far. Patrick Mazur is batting .467 with two RBIs and two doubles. Zander Carnahan and Max Finn are both batting above .400. J.T. Stiner is batting .333 with the team's lone home run.

11. Bishop Chatard (7-0)

Last ranking: Unranked

Bishop Chatard is off to an undefeated start with quality wins over Lafayette Central Catholic, Lutheran and Guerin Catholic. Chatard scored one run in the fourth to earn the 1-0 victory over the Golden Eagles. Henry Borg threw a complete shutout against Guerin scattering seven hits and striking out four.

12. Guerin Catholic (4-1)

Last ranking: No. 9

Guerin couldn't find the offense to support a strong start from Davis Wagner in its loss to Bishop Chatard. Wagner did not allow an earned run through six innings against the Trojans. Wagner, a two-way standout, is off to a strong start at the plate. He went 6-for-8 (.750) with three home runs and 10 RBIs in Guerin's first two games. Bryson Dorsey supplied the offense in Guerin's next three games, going 5-for-8 (.625) with three triples, five RBIs and five runs scored.

13. Franklin Central (4-2)

Last ranking: Unranked

The Flashes have impressive wins over Mt. Vernon and Cathedral, part of a loaded early-season schedule. Three Flashes (Dylan Manning, Nate Schwark and Ben Uhlmansiek) have homered already, and Brian Lockhart leads the team with a .533 batting average. Staff ace Weston Harvey continues to shove on the mound. He's recorded 21 strikeouts through nine innings while allowing just three earned runs (2.33 ERA).

14. Roncalli (4-2)

Last ranking: No. 14

Roncalli won its first three games before dropping its next two to Gibson Southern and Columbus North, respectively. Roncalli rebounded with a 12-4 win over Kokomo, but we'll learn more about the Royals with games against Brebeuf Jesuit and Franklin Central this week. Will Manship leads the offense with a .538 batting average, five RBIs, three doubles and one home run. J.J. Prendergast has been Roncalli's top pitcher. He hasn't allowed an earned over eight innings, striking out 11, walking three and allowing just three hits.

T-15. Perry Meridian (3-0)

Last Ranking: Unranked

Perry Meridian has three strong wins over Greenfield-Central, Lawrence Central and Decatur Central, respectively. The Falcons are averaging 9.3 runs per game while surrendering just 3.3 runs per game. Carson Woods has been the Falcons top run producer. The senior is batting .571 with eight RBIs, two doubles, one home run and two stolen bases.

T-15. Park Tudor (2-0)

Last Ranking: No. 13

Park Tudor has played just two games so far and it has yet to be truly tested. The Panthers' schedule gets tougher this week with games against North Central and Scecina looming. Park Tudor's performance should reveal where it stands amongst the other teams in the Fab 15. Carter Hall is batting .500 with two RBIs and a double. The Niagara commit added five scoreless, hitless innings against Lapel, walking one and striking out six.

Just Missed: Avon, Brebeuf Jesuit, Greenfield-Central, Plainfield, Shelbyville.
