Strikeouts, steals and slams: Vote for IHSAA baseball player of Weeks 1 and 2

Here are this week's nominees.

Jack Brown, Fishers

The Louisville a commit and two-way standout has been off to a scorching start. Brown is batting .370 with two doubles, one home run and one stolen base. On the mound, Brown has not allowed an earned run in three appearances. He's 1-1 with 21 strikeouts over 12 innings.

Beckett Doane, Noblesville

The sophomore struck out 10 in five innings in a win over Mooresville. Doane did not allow an earned run and surrendered just three hits. Through two appearances, Doane has a 1.45 ERA and 17 strikeouts over 9⅔ innings.

Bryson Dorsey, Guerin Catholic

Dorsey has been an extra-base machine for the Golden Eagles. In Week 2 of the season, the senior went 5-for-8 (.625) with three triples, five RBIs and five runs scored.

Ahmaad Duff, Lawrence Central

The Alabama commit has multiple hits in all four of Lawrence Central's games this season. Duff is batting .714 with seven runs scored, seven RBIs two doubles, one triple and three stolen bases. One the mound, Duff's thrown two scoreless innings, striking out four and walking just one.

Josh Lesnieski, Hamilton Southeastern

The left-handed junior has been an ace on the mound for the Royals. He's 3-0 with a 0.91 ERA and 17 strikeouts over 15⅓ innings. Lesnieski has gotten stronger each start, improving his strikeout total from four, six to seven, respectively through three starts. He led HSE to a 6-0 win over Brownsburg, allowing two hits over 6⅓ shutout innings.

Will Loftus, Brebeuf Jesuit

Loftus has been a key cog in a red-hot Brebeuf Jesuit offense. The senior is batting .333 with five runs scored, nine RBIs, two doubles and two home runs through seven games.

Alex Kush, Martinsville

Kush has hits in every game this season and multiple hits in two of Martinsville's four games. The senior is batting .545 with six runs scored, six RBIs, one double, two triples, two home runs and seven stolen bases.

Wyatt Pennington, Avon

Pennington is the man you want at the plate with runners on base. The junior is batting .438 with six runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and a whopping 15 RBIs. He had back-to-back five-RBI games against Bartlett (Tenn.) and Nolensville (Tenn.), respectively. He added four RBIs against Perkins (Ohio) and one RBI against Henry County (Tenn).

J.D. Stein, Carmel

Stein has been scorching hot at the plate for the undefeated Greyhounds. The junior is batting .545 with two doubles, two triples and four stolen bases. Stein has walked seven times and has not struck out in 20 plate appearances.

Davis Wagner, Guerin Catholic

Wagner started the season on fire for Guerin Catholic. In Week 1, Wagner went 6-for-8 (.750) with three home runs, 10 RBIs, four runs scored and two walks. On the mound, Wagner went 1-0 with nine strikeouts over four innings.

Mateo Wells, Zionsville

The High Point commit has made two strong starts for Zionsville this season. He struck out eight over four innings against Collierville (Tenn.). He followed his first start with a dominant outing against Fishers. Wells went the distance, striking out seven and allowing just three hits in the shutout win.
