Badger Countdown: Former QB ends UW career with 48 passing TDs

The return of college football is around the corner, and the Badgers are 48 days away from Luke Fickell’s regular-season debut against Buffalo on Sept. 2.

With new quarterback Tanner Mordecai (SMU) taking over in 2023, former Rose Bowl signal-caller Joel Stave is worth mentioning.

Stave was a member of Wisconsin’s squad from 2012-2015, serving as the team’s starter for his final three campaigns in Madison. During his time with the Badgers, Stave racked up 7,635 passing yards (second all time) and 48 passing touchdowns (second all time) over his 44 games.

Unfortunately for Stave, he entered as the starting signal-caller the year after the Badgers had made three consecutive Rose Bowls, but he’s a Wisconsin legend nonetheless.
