B-C’s Maddi Walters fires a one-hitter in tourney win over North Union: H.S. Roundup

Bloom-Carroll 1, North Union 0: Ady Luke hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Bulldogs in their Division II tournament win over the Wildcats.

Maddi Walters pitched seven innings in the circle, giving up one hit and striking out 12.

Millersport 3, Madison Christian 2: The Lakers were able to hang in their Division IV tournament win.

A single by Kendyl Bonkowski put the Lakers on the board in the bottom of the second inning. Emma Raver extended the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third. Madison Christian scored two unearned runs in the top of the fourth inning before Ginny Worstall came home on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth to give the Lakers a 3-2 lead.

Alexis Barch went 2-for-3 and Veronica Rarey stole three bases. Kendyl Bonkowski struck out 15 to raise her season total to 207.

Liberty Union 12, Marion Elgin 2: The Lions scored seven runs in the third inning to blow the game open in their Division III tournament win over the Rockets.

Suzie Shultz allowed three hits, no earned runs, struck out nine, and had two hits at the plate, including a double. Emmalee Putnam went 3-for-4, including a home run and three RBIs, Alexis McCoy was 3-for-4, including a double, and had two RBIs, while Addi Osterman and Masie Buskirk finished with two hits each.

Athens 7, Fairfield Union 5: The Lady Falcons fell short in the Southeast district Division II first-round tournament game against the Bulldogs.

Addy Wolfe went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning. Taylor Smeck went 2-for-3 and Ella Harmon was 2-for-4. Maddi Lanning hit a two-run home run in the top of the third inning.

BASEBALL

Berne Union 5, Wellington 1: The visiting Rockets improved to 14-8 overall and 10-5 in the Mid-State League-Cardinal Division after their win over the Jaguars.

Jeremy Hartmann pitched five-plus innings to pick up the win as he gave up two hits, one earned run and struck out seven. Clayton Moore pitched in relief and didn’t give up a hit.

Hudson Gerken went 2-for-4, including a double, with two RBIs, and Cade Pugh had two hits and one RBI. Clayton Moore, Austin Snyder and Colton Moore each hit a double.

In a 10-6 MSL loss to Bishop Rosecrans, Snyder took the loss, giving up seven hits and three earned runs in four-plus innings. William Bolton went 2-for-3 with a double and Clayton Moore had two hits and an RBI.

In a 7-1 win over Wellington, Cade Pugh picked up the win, as he pitched six innings, giving four hits, one run and struck out eight. Clayton Moore pitched a perfect seventh inning, striking out three.

Gerken went 2-for-3, including a double, Glenny Harris had two hits, and Bolton had a double, an RBI and scored a run. Ethen Redinger also doubled.

Amanda-Clearcreek 3, Westfall 2: The Aces held on for a nonconference win over the Mustangs. Blayne Barker pitched and had two hits. Gary Kemmerling picked up the win in relief.

The Aces also picked up a 6-4 nonconference win over New Lexington. Peyton Beavers had two hits and Kemmerling picked up the win in relief.
