Ashland County Athlete of the Week Poll: May 6-May 11

Vote now for the candidates in the Ashland Times-Gazette Athlete of the Week poll.

The performances in the poll are from May 6 to May 11. The poll will run from 10 a.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Winners will be announced at the end of the week.

Athlete of the Week candidates

Reese Landis, New London track and field

Landis won the 3,200 (11:26.97) and 1,600 meters (5:19.14) at Friday's Firelands Conference track meet at Crestview High School. She also was third in the 800. With those wins, that was Landis' fourth straight FC title in the 3,200 and second straight title in the 1,600.

Angela Williams, South Central track and field

Williams swept the 100 (12.81), 200 (27.16) and 400 (59.83) meter sprints for the second year in a row at the Firelands Conference track meet on Friday. She also won the long jump with a mark of 18-feet, 2-inches.

Alex Grissinger, Ashland baseball

Grissinger drove in four runs, had three hits and scored two runs in Ashland's 13-0 road win versus Mansfield Senior on Wednesday.

Tyson Welch, Mapleton baseball

Welch earned the win in Mapleton's 8-0 shutout home win over South Central on Monday. Welch pitched seven innings, had six strikeouts, walked three batters, gave up five hits and zero earned runs.

Makena Calame, South Central softball

Calame went 3 for 3 at the plate, where she hit one home run, had three RBIs, three hits and scored three runs in the Trojans 13-2 Division III sectional final home win over Plymouth on Friday.
