Arsenal vs. Manchester United at MetLife Stadium: What to know about Saturday's big match

For the first time in a long time, there will be football at MetLife Stadium this weekend.

But not the NFL version.

Arsenal and Manchester United will play each other for the first time on U.S. soil when the historic English Premier League clubs meet Saturday in East Rutherford.

This is the 240th matchup between the two teams as they first met in 1894. Manchester United leads the series 99-87, and there have been 53 draws. The last five matches have been dead even with both teams winning two games with a 0-0 draw on Jan. 30, 2021. The most recent contest was in January with Arsenal winning 3-2.

Here's all the info you need to know about the match this weekend in the Meadowlands:

Parking lots open: 12 p.m.

Coach USA bus service from NYC begins: 2 p.m.

NJ Transit rail service from Secaucus begins: 2:33 p.m.

Stadium gates open: 3 p.m.

Match begins: 5 p.m.

Box Office/Ticketmaster Will-Call: Located at trailer outside MetLife Gate - Opens at 12 p.m.

No re-entry: If you leave the stadium, you will not be allowed to re-enter on the same event ticket.

Mobile tickets

Your ticket must be displayed on your phone to enter the event. Please have your mobile ticket downloaded before you enter the security line.

Stadium bag policy

Clear bags of any style 12" x 6" x 12" or small are allowed. Bags must be completely clear plastic and free of color tint or pattern. Non-clear small purses 4.5" x 6.5" or smaller are permitted.

Security screening

All guests will be subject to a screening via a walk-through metal detector at stadium gates. Guests are required to place their cell phones, cameras, keys and metal objects on the security table before walking through the metal detector.

Transportation, parking fees, tailgating info

Lots Open: 12 p.m.

Parking Fee: $40 per standard sized vehicle; $160 per bus/RV/oversized vehicle

Payment: Credit cards and cash accepted at entry plazas

Tailgating Policy: Tailgating is permitted (one car, one space); additional details.

Parking info: Pre-paid parking permits are not available; parking is payable upon entry. Personal vehicle Drop-Offs are on the roadway between Lots D & E; if dropping off, please return to pick-up locations starting at 6:30 p.m. to avoid exiting traffic.

Rideshare: Designated rideshare (Uber, Lyft, etc.) pick-up/drop-off location is in Lot E.

NJ Transit: NJ Transit rail service from Secaucus Junction to MetLife Stadium via the Meadowlands Line will run from 2:33 p.m. to 5:51 p.m., the full schedule can be found here. Post-match service will run from MetLife Stadium to Secaucus Junction; last train departs no earlier than 9:10 p.m. Take an NJ Transit train to Secaucus Junction from NY Penn Station or NJ Transit stations; once you arrive in Secaucus, transfer to a direct shuttle train to the Meadowlands Rail Station. Purchase your round-trip tickets in advance via the NJ Transit Mobile App.

Coach USA Bus: The 351 Meadowlands Express bus will operate from Gates 419 and 420 at NYC Port Authority direct to MetLife Stadium (parking lot K) starting at 2 p.m. with return service after the match ends. The last departing bus from NYC Port Authority to MetLife Stadium will leave at 5 p.m. The last bus will leave the stadium to return to NYC Port Authority 60 minutes after the match ends. Round-trip tickets are $14 and can be purchased in advance.

Alcohol sales

International guests must present a valid passport to purchase alcohol as part of New Jersey State Law. MetLife Stadium cannot accept a driver’s license from another country to establish proof of age. Guests with a valid passport may also be subject to an additional age verification form. Legal drinking age in the United States is 21.

Contactless and cashless payments only

MetLife Stadium operates cash-free. Only contactless payment options will be accepted within the stadium. Pay with a debit or credit card. Mobile payment, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, is accepted. Reverse ATMs are available onsite to load cash onto a prepaid Visa debit card valid for in-stadium purchases.

Permitted and non-permitted items

Permitted items:

  • Handheld signs/banners smaller than 11” x 17” (cannot be mounted to a pole or stick or be commercial in nature)

  • Official national flags that can be held by one person and do not obstruct the view of others

  • Open drums less than 12”x12”x12” (no closed drums)

  • Still-photography cameras with a lens that is 6" or less in length not contained in a case

  • Factory sealed plastic water/soft-drink bottles 20 oz. or less

  • Food of any kind in a clear plastic baggie or wrapping

  • Medically necessary items (subject to inspection at entry)

  • Small, hand-held USB-charged personal fans

  • Small portable phone chargers (no larger than the phone itself)

  • Binoculars not contained in a case

Non-permitted items:

  • Noisemakers, instruments, and vuvuzelas

  • Professional camera equipment, including DSLR cameras, any camera with a detachable lens, video cameras, monopods, tripods, GoPros, selfie sticks, or any professional recording equipment, etc.

  • Seat cushions of any size except for medical needs

  • Battery operated clothing (socks, jackets, etc.) or items (signs, fans, etc.)

  • Glass bottles, coolers, thermoses or ice chests

  • Drones

  • Alcohol of any kind

  • Banners larger than 11” x 17”

  • Flags that are not the official flag of a country, ones that are displayed on a stick or a pole or cannot reasonably be hand-held by a single person

  • Umbrellas, strollers, laser pointers, balls of any kind

  • Weapons, including firearms, knives and any item that may be used as a projectile

  • Any animal with the exception of a service animal
