The Oak Ridge Senior Center held a Midwinter Table Tennis Tournament last month, with eight players from Knoxville, Kingston, Powell, Claxton, and Oak Ridge competing for the title.

After a close five-game championship match, Kermit Raxter defeated Mike Mobley 9-11, 11-6, 11-8, 8-11, 11-7.

Also competing were Yuriy Sobeshchakov, Linh Le, Mike Pethel, Bob Muchnick, Mickey Stanlahan, and Jehan Mistry.

This tournament is the first of 12 monthly tournaments the Senior Center plans for 2024. The next tournament, a Valentine’s Tournament, is scheduled for Feb. 16.

Oak Ridge Senior Center has an active table tennis group that meets three times weekly: 3:30-6:30 Tuesday; 2-4 Friday and 9-12:30 Saturday. The Senior Center is at 1407 Oak Ridge Turnpike, adjacent to the Oak Ridge Civic Center.
