Appalachian State defeats Troy on wild tipped-ball Hail Mary as time expires
An exciting week for Appalachian State football ended in the most unbelievable manner as the Mountaineers defeated Troy on a Hail Mary as time expired.
Trailing 28-24, App State QB Chase Brice rolled out to his left after escaping some pressure, launching downfield in the direction of a group of players around the 5-yard line. The ball got tipped in the air as the players converged. It was plucked out of the air by Christan Horn, who wheeled to his right, got a block and sprinted into the end zone for a 53-yard touchdown with no time left on the clock.
Appalachian State fans stormed the field to celebrate the wild 32-28 victory.

It was the capper to an eventful day, and week (season, really) for Appalachian State football.
ESPN's College GameDay was in Boone, North Carolina, on Saturday for its weekly broadcast following the Mountaineers' upset win over then-No. 6 Texas A&M last week.
App State, now 2-1 on the season, began the year with a wild 63-61 loss to in-state rival North Carolina. Though they lost that game, the Mountaineers scored an astounding 40 points in the fourth quarter.

Saturday, though, was the craziest ending yet for this Mountaineers team.
