De’Anthony Melton draws high praise for defense at Sixers training camp
CHARLESTON, S.C.–The first move of the offseason for the Philadelphia 76ers was made on draft night back in June when they sent Danny Green to the Memphis Grizzlies in a deal that brought De’Anthony Melton to Philadelphia.
The Sixers liked Melton for his two-way ability as he can knock down an open triple while also being able to bother his opponent on the other end of the floor. That type of production is going to come in handy when the season begins and they begin to chase down a championship.
As they convened for training camp on Tuesday at The Citadel in Charleston, SC, Melton was somebody who stood out for his defensive work out on the floor.
“Other than PJ (Tucker), the best defensive player by a long shot, was De’Anthony Melton,” said coach Doc Rivers. “He actually, in some ways, screwed practice up because we were having guys pick up full court, but we couldn’t run our offense. He was disrupting the guards a lot today.”

Melton is going to play a big role for this Sixers team when the time calls for it and his play on day 1 of training camp is a prime example of that as the team continues to build.
