Another successful JHS Indian/Maiden Golf Classic is in the books

Feb. 21—The Jacksonville Athletic Booster Club presented the 2024 Jacksonville Indian/Maiden Golf Classic Monday at Cherokee Ranch Golf Club.

Tyler-Grace Community Blue won the Boy's Division, coming in at 351, with Kerens (353) coming in second place.

Tyler Legacy JV "A" captured the Girl's Division crown, checking in at 425, with Legacy JV "B" (443) nailing down the runner-up spot.

Boy's medalist were Cordell Knox of Latexo and Bralon Powell from Hudson, who shot 74 and 80, respectively.

Central Heights' Fallon Payne shot a 98 to take girl's medalist accolades, while Kaylee Brooks of Troup (99) finished as the runner-up.

William Alexander (87), Mason Williams (91) and Harrison Penn (118) represented the Tribe.

Alexander, who ended the day tied for 8th place, and Williams, who was tied for 13th place, posted personal competition bests.

Caroline Ault (116) had the low round for the Jacksonville girls. Ault came in tied for 15th.

Two-strokes behind was Gretchen Ault, who wound up tied for 18th in the individual standings.

Andi Speaker carded a 122 for the Maidens.

"All of the Indians showed improvement from last week," Jacksonville head golf coach, Jason Shuck, said. "The Maidens also showed improvement in just their second competitive tournament ever."

Shuck said that the tournament went smooth, as a result of the hard work put forth by two groups.

"Thanks to the JABC and staff at Cherokee Ranch for their help in making this event a success once again," he said.

The Indians will be back on the links Monday when they compete in the Bullard Invitational at Emerald Bay.

Jacksonville's girl's next action will come on March 6 (Tiger Invitational, Corsicana).
