Andy Reid's bye week record isn't so stellar when both teams are coming off a bye

Andy Reid has famously put together a stellar record when his teams are coming off a bye week, but there's a notable asterisk — his record after a bye week is only good when his opponent isn't also coming off its bye week.

The Chiefs, coming off their bye week, lost to the Eagles, also coming off their bye week, on Monday night. That brings Reid's record to just 3-4 when both teams had a week off, via Bob Vetrone Jr. That includes last night's loss, Reid's 1-1 regular season record when both teams were coming off their bye during his time as coach of the Eagles, and Reid's 2-2 record in Super Bowls.

Contrast that with Reid's 28-3 record when his team is coming off a bye week and the other team is not. That includes both the regular season and divisional-round playoff matchups when Reid's teams earned a bye week.

Whatever it is that Reid does to give his team an edge with extra time off, it only seems to work when his team actually has extra time relative to the other team. When both teams are coming off byes, Reid's record is nothing special.
