Andy Dalton: Bryce Young is ‘made up the right way’

The rave reviews for Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young this summer are plentiful. But no person, perhaps, has had the opportunity to gauge the 2023 No. 1 overall pick like Andy Dalton has.

On Thursday, the 13th-year veteran spoke to reporters following what would have been the end of the second joint practice with the New York Jets. He was, of course, asked about the progress of Young.

“Bryce is made up the right way,” Dalton said, via Joe Person of The Athletic. “He’s done a great job since he’s been here. I’m excited to see how his career starts and everything he’s able to do this year.”

Dalton signed a two-year, $10 million pact with the Panthers this spring. And while he is the backup to the 22-year-old, the 35-year-old’s side job in Carolina will be to help bring the new kid along—which is, apparently, going quite swimmingly.

Fellow veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers had some very similar words on Young yesterday.

“I like the kid a lot,” Rodgers said after Wednesday’s practice. “We share an agent. So I’ve known him for a long time. I love watching him in college. I like his demeanor, I like his movement, I like the way he throws.

“I trust a guy like Adam [Thielen]. Him and I have been buddies for a long time, and he just raves about him. So, I think Carolina is in good hands.”

While the vast majority of it comes from one guy, that praise is worth a combined 13 Pro Bowl selections and four Most Valuable Player nods. Not bad, huh?
