Andre Drummond plans to accept player option, stay with Bulls
This past season, the Chicago Bulls took a step back. They snapped a four-year playoff drought in the 2021-22 season, ending the year as the sixth seed and getting eliminated in the first round by the Milwaukee Bucks. However, in the 2022-23 season, they were bounced in the Play-In Tournament by the Miami Heat, who went on to make the NBA Finals.
Now, the Bulls will have some important roster decisions to make. However, there are also some choices that won’t be left up to them. One of those involves Andre Drummond‘s future with the Bulls, as he has a player option for next year. And during a recent appearance on I AM AN ATHLETE’s podcast, “Paper Route,” Drummond unveiled his plans in Chicago.
According to Drummond, he wants to return to the Bulls next season. He stated that he wants to remain in Chicago as he’s loved his time with the organization.
“For sure,” Drummond said when asked if he plans to stay with the Bulls. “As of now, that’s what my plan is. Unless something comes up, but I think as of right now, where I’m at today and how I feel, I really love being in Chicago.”
Drummond’s player option is worth $3.36 million, which will make him a rather cheap backup center option, which will help Chicago’s depth behind Nikola Vucevic if they bring him back.
The 29-year-old had a solid first season with the Bulls this past year. He averaged 6.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game on 60.6 percent shooting from the field. Drummond played 12.7 minutes per contest.
At the price he’s set to be paid, Drummond will be a nice piece to have on the roster.
