Americas graduate Darell Hernaiz earns spot on MLB opening day roster

After a strong spring training Americas graduate Darell Hernaiz has been named to the Oakland Athletics opening-day roster per multiple reports.

Hernaiz was traded from Baltimore to Oakland earlier this year and found success at Double-A Midland and Triple-A Las Vegas, where he had 32 doubles, 9 homers and 71 RBI. Hernaiz will be 22 years and 238 days old on Opening Day, making him the youngest player on an A's Opening Day roster since Brett Anderson in 2010 (22 years, 63 days).

In the offseason, the Athletics placed him on the 40-man roster and he played well this spring while playing shortstop and third base.

He was drafted out of Americas by Baltimore in the 2019 Draft.
