Alabama high school soccer: 28 Montgomery area players to watch during 2024 playoffs
With the Alabama high school soccer regular season coming to a close, the playoffs are next for some schools in the River Region.
For 6A boys and girls soccer, the first round will be April 25-27, second round April 29-30 and the third round May 2-4. For classes 1A-5A and 7A, the first round will be April 29-30 and second round May 2-4.
All classes will participate in the state tournament that runs May 8-11 in Huntsville.
Here are the Montgomery-area boys and girls soccer players to watch in the postseason:

Katie Brightwell
Saint James, Senior
Why chosen: Brightwell broke the existing AHSAA career goals record of 232 goals this season averaging 3.6 goals per match.
Mary Grace Hixon
Saint James, Senior
Why chosen: Leads the Trojans team with 20 assists.
Sophia Cho
Montgomery Academy, Junior
Why chosen: Has a team-high 20 goals scored and 12 assists for the Eagles this season.
Eryn Owen
Montgomery Catholic, Junior
Why chosen: Owens is a top goal scorer in the Class 4A and leads her team averaging 1.9 goals per match.
Anna Russo
Montgomery Catholic, Sophomore
Why Chosen: Russo leads the Knights team in steals playing the Midfield.
Heather Walski
Montgomery Catholic, Sophomore
Why Chosen: Goalkeeper Walski averages 4.5 saves per match.
Joanna Marlow
Montgomery Catholic, Junior
Why Chosen: Marlow has 21 goals scored and seven assists.
JK Longnecker
Pike Road, Freshman
Why Chosen: Leads the Patriots team with 19 goals scored and averages 1.5 goals per match.
