Lindsey Brown leads Edgewood to state title victory

After a 25-point performance in the Final Four on Thursday, Lindsey Brown put on a clinic to lead Edgewood to the Class AA state title in a 46-28 victory over Sparta.

Head Coach Brad Starks said she refused to be taken out of the game with it being her final game in high school.

“She wanted to be on the court and deserved to be on the court,” Starks said. “Early on, we were a little bit nervous to start out. But Lindsey does what she does, and we fed off her energy the rest of the game.”

This title makes the third straight Class AA championship for Edgewood.

Lee-Scott girls fall in Class AAA Championship

Lee-Scott Academy girls fell short in the Class AAA state title game after a 45-36 loss to Glenwood. The Warriors first lead of the game came late in third quarter.

Despite the defeat, head coach Corye Harrison said she liked the resiliency the group displayed playing from behind the majority of the contest.

“This group right here does not quit. It’s not in their DNA and they just don’t know how,” Harrison said. "They all fought to the end and I couldn’t be more proud of this group.

“A championship environment can overwhelm a group. All year this team was given obstacles and reasons to give up and they never did it. They always find a way to get the momentum back. They met the challenge tonight and that’s what matters most.”
