5-star DE Matayo Uiagalelei joins massive June recruiting weekend in Oregon

·1 min read

The weekend of June 24 is setting up to be the biggest we’ve seen at Oregon when it comes to recruits coming to town.

We knew some of the top five-star prospects in the nation — running back Richard Young, offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, defensive end Jayden Wayne, defensive lineman David Hicks and athlete Samuel M’Pemba — were coming to Eugene along with many more four-stars on the guest list. On Sunday night, we learned another five-star player is being added to the list, DE Matayo Uiagalelei.

Uiagalelei is a familiar name for Oregon fans. He has been on multiple visits to Eugene over the past year. Ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 DE and No. 5 player in the 2023 class, a player of Matayo’s caliber committing would be massive for the Ducks, and they seem to be in a great position.

Uiagalelei will take three of his official visits this spring — to Oregon, USC, and Ohio State — and will take an visit to Alabama during the season.
