Quarterfinals

Wednesday, May 25

1-Donovan Catholic 14, 8-Middletown North 0 (5 innings)

Julia Apostolakos pitched four scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and also went 2-for-3 at the plate with one homer and two RBI for the Griffins (25-0).

Donovan Catholic will play fifth-seeded Southern in the semifinals.

5-Southern 9, 4-St. John Vianney 1

Elizabeth Gosse allowed one unearned run on two hits, one walk and struck out nine in a complete game for the Rams (18-7). Sarah Lally went 2-for-4 with one homer and five RBI and Hannah Vogel went 3-for-4 with one double and two RBI.

Southern will take on top-seeded Donovan Catholic in the semifinals.

3-Freehold Township 3, 6-Jackson Memorial 2

Nikki Lusnia pitched a complete game with one earned run, five hits, three walks and seven strikeouts for the Patriots (18-4).

Freehold Township will play second-seeded Middletown South in the semifinals.

2-Middletown South 5, 10-Toms River South 0 (GAME STORY)

5-Southern 1, 12-Toms River East 0

Wednesday, May 18

1-Donovan Catholic 9, 16-Lacey 0

Julian Apostolakos and Annabelle Graf combined for the shutout in the circle, allowing just one hit and one walk combined for the Griffins (23-0). Ashley Federico went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI while Taryn Zylka and Emily Kurth each drove in two runs.

Donovan Catholic will take on eighth-seeded Middletown North in the quarterfinals.

8-Middletown North 5, 9-Raritan 0 (GAME STORY)

4-St. John Vianney 8, 20-Colts Neck 0

Kylie Ferris spun a complete game shutout with five hits, one walk and six strikeouts for the Lancers (17-2). Holly Lovett went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI and Jordyn Gautier went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

St. John Vianney will play the winner of fifth-seeded Southern and 12th-seeded Toms River East in the quarterfinals.

3-Freehold Township 10, 19-Marlboro 2

6-Jackson Memorial 9, 11-Wall 0

Sophia LoPiccolo pitched a complete game shutout with four hits, no walks and four strikeouts for the Jaguars (18-5). LoPiccolo also homered and drove in two runs as did Dominque Lopez.

Jackson Memorial will play third-seeded Freehold Township in the quarterfinals.

7-Toms River South 4, 10-Red Bank Catholic 1 (11 innings)

Toms River South (18-7) scored three runs in the top of the 11th to pull out the victory. It had taken a 1-0 lead in the 10th, but the Caseys (16-6) responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning.

Janelle Blaszka struck out 16 and allowed one unearned run in 11 innings pitched and also drove in two runs in the win.

Toms River South will play second-seeded Middletown South in the quarterfinals.

2-Middletown South 7, 15-Freehold Boro 0

Riley Coneeny pitched a complete game shutout with four hits, four walks and five strikeouts for the Eagles (21-0). Julianna DeMauro went 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI while Gillian Deans homered, doubled and drove in two more runs.

Middletown South will take on seventh-seeded Toms River South in the quarterfinals.

First round

Monday, May 16

PPD TO 5/18: 21-Point Beach at 12-Toms River East, 4 p.m.

20-Colts Neck 8, 13-Point Boro 7

Julianna Kowaleski went 4-for-5 with three runs and Katie Finnegan went 2-for-4 with one double, two runs and two RBI as the Cougars (11-9) upset the Panthers (15-6)

Colts Neck will take on fourth-seeded St. John Vianney in the second round.

11-Wall 4, 22-Matawan 2

Leeah Koegel went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI to spark a fifth inning rally for the Crimson Knights (16-5). Brielle Coppola allowed two runs, four hits, two walks and added six strikeouts in a complete game effort.

Wall will play sixth-seeded Jackson Memorial in the second round.

Saturday, May 14

16-Lacey 16, 17-Keansburg 0 (5 innings)

Sarah Zimmerman pitched a four-inning no-hitter with two walks and eight strikeouts and also went 3-for-4 at the plate with one double, two RBI and four runs for the Lions (12-7). Ryan Leary went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs, Grace Giordano drove in two runs and Chelsea Melkowits went 2-for-2 with one run and three RBI.​​​​​​

Lacey will play top-seeded Donovan Catholic in the second round.

19-Marlboro 3, 14-Central 2

Marlboro (12-10) will take on third-seeded Freehold Township in the second round.

10-Toms River South 11, 23-Monmouth 1 (6 innings)

Janelle Blaszka struck out 11 in five innings while Chloe Seluchins went 2-for-2 with a homer and double and three RBI for Toms River South (16-7).

Toms River South will play seventh-seeded Red Bank Catholic in the second round.

Friday, May 13

PPD TO 5/14: 17-Keansburg at 16-Lacey, 2 p.m.

9-Raritan 16, 24-Keyport 1 (4 innings)

Anna Shea went 3-for-3 with one homer, one double and five RBI, Grace Landante went 3-for-3 with one double and three RBI and Julianne Benson went 2-for-2 with on triple, three runs and three RBI for the Rockets (16-5).

Raritan will play eighth-seeded Middletown North in the second round.

PPD TO 5/14: 21-Point Beach at 12-Toms River East, 5:15 p.m.

PPD TO 5/16: 20-Colts Neck at 13-Point Boro, 4 p.m.

PPD TO 5/14: 19-Marlboro at 14-Central, 1:30 p.m.

PPD TO 5/16: 22-Matawan at 11-Wall, 4 p.m.

PPD TO 5/14: 23-Monmouth at 10-Toms River South, 7 p.m.

15-Freehold Boro 4, 18-Holmdel 3

After giving up three hits and three runs in the first inning, Giana Abinanti kept Holmdel off the bases and off the scoreboard to lead the Colonials (11-7). Emma Gugliotta and Olivia Edmonds each went 3-for-3 while Abinanti also homered and drove in two runs.

Freehold Boro will play second-seeded Middletown South in the second round.
