2021 Ohio State football season is over. There are 245 days until the Notre Dame game

Ohio State football closed out the 2021 college football season with a 48-45 win against Utah in the Rose Bowl.

And now the focus turns to the next season.

Spring football will begin in about three months for Ohio State, and the last of the National Signing Days is a month away on Feb. 2.

Ohio State has already added key defensive recruits to the class, and the Buckeyes could be a popular destination for players in the transfer portal as OSU looks to replace several talented players who are headed to the NFL draft.

The Buckeyes are 245 days away from starting the 2022 season, and they'll do so against Notre Dame at Ohio Stadium on Sept. 3.

The Fighting Irish lost 37-35 against Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday.

Notre Dame's new head coach Marcus Freeman is a Buckeye

Marcus Freeman was named the Notre Dame head coach in December after Brian Kelly left for the LSU job. Freeman replaces the winningest coach in program history and he's also the first Ohio State graduate to be the head coach of the legendary program.

Freeman, from Dayton, was an Ohio State linebacker from 2004-2008 and played under Jim Tressel.

Freeman was the 154th pick of the 2009 NFL draft. He worked under former Ohio State assistant coach Darrell Hazel at Kent State and Purdue before leaving for Cincinnati, coached by yet another former Ohio assistant, Luke Fickell.
