When the Charlotte Hornets selected Kentucky point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with the No. 11 pick in the NBA draft on Thursday night in Brooklyn, the Los Angeles Clippers quickly went to make a deal.

Just minutes later, they had their man.

The Clippers acquired Gilgeous-Alexander from the Hornets, trading Charlotte their No. 12 pick and two second-round picks.

The Clippers then drafted Michigan State big man Miles Bridges with the No. 12 pick, who will be sent to the Hornets.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Clippers also went two second-round picks to the Hornets for Gilgeous-Alexander.

The Clippers also had the No. 13 pick in the draft, and took Boston College guard Jerome Robinson.

Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 14.1 points, 5.1 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game in his freshman campaign with the Wildcats last season. The 6-foot-6 point guard averaged nearly 34 minutes per contest.

Robinson averaged 20.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game last year with Boston College, his third season with the Eagles.

Bridges put up 17.1 points and grabbed seven rebounds per contest last season at Michigan State, and was a consensus All-American.
