141 players who will fuel boys' and girls' lacrosse teams this season

It’s going to be an interesting year on YAIAA lacrosse fields.

Some of the players who put Dallastown, Central York, Susquehannock and South Western at the top of the boys’ standings have moved on. Only one first-team league all-star returns this season.

On the girls’ side, South Western, York Catholic, Susquehannock and Red Lion finished in a tie for the division title. More than a half dozen first-team all-stars join the league’s top two goalies on the fields for another season.

Here is a look at this year’s players to watch and returning starters and newcomers, as reported by coaches.

South Western junior Ben Klein is the only first-teamer returning from last year’s all-star team. The Mustangs also bring back the team’s top scorers, juniors Hunter Gray and Cole Dettinger, who was named to the league’s second team.

Defending regular season champ Dallastown lost a pair of their top scorers, but the Wildcats have plenty of players back with goals on their resumes. Senior Griffin Pickett will lead that charge as a second-teamer last year with 42 goals and a league-high 51 assists.

Defending tournament champ and District 3 Class 3A finalist Central York lost its top scorer, but return Brandon Anderson and Mitchel Myers who weren’t far behind. The Panthers also bring back junior Kiran Gupta, a second-team all-star on defense.

YAIAA girls' lacrosse: 2024 outlook

South Western's Cam Storey is back to try and deny York-Adams players from increasing their scoring averages. The junior was the league’s first-team goalie last year, but she will be tested again by some of the top scorers.

So will York Catholic senior goalie Amanda Reed. The Georgetown commit and second-team goalie led the Irish to a league championship win over Storey and the Mustangs that came down to the final seconds.

First-team all-stars Katie Bullen (York Catholic), Alexis Federline (Dallastown), Haley Hayes (Red Lion), Cambria Rice (York Suburban) and Delaney Staples (York Catholic) are back to wreak havoc on league defenses and keep goalies on their toes.

They will have to move the ball through defenses led by first-team all-stars Macey Baum (Spring Grove) and Keira Linebaugh (New Oxford) and a bunch of second-team and honorable mention all-stars and numerous newcomers.

The four teams that finished atop the standings last year all return all-stars, but they aren’t the only ones. Kennard-Dale, Dallastown, New Oxford and Spring Grove bring back some of the league’s top players to challenge the top four.
