The NBA will announce on Friday that the 2020 All-Star Weekend will be held in Chicago, league sources told The Vertical.

The NBA and Chicago Bulls announced on Thursday that it has a “major announcement” with commissioner Adam Silver, mayor Rahm Emanuel and team officials coming on Friday. The Bulls’ bid for the 2020 All-Star event gained significant momentum last month, league sources said.

The NBA will play the All-Star Game this season in Los Angeles and in Charlotte in 2019.

Chicago last held All-Star Weekend in 1988, with Michael Jordan winning the slam-dunk contest and the MVP of the All-Star Game.
