Graphic: Patriots' record pace

The New England Patriots' "Pursuit of Perfection" could include some shattering of the record books along the way.

Even as the Patriots' offensive juggernaut has been slowed in the past two weeks with near upsets to the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens, New England figures to easily break the 1998 Minnesota Vikings' record for most points in a season (556).

Randy Moss, a rookie on the '98 Vikings, has already tied his career high for most touchdowns in a season (17) and now is eyeing Jerry Rice’s receiving mark (22) set in 1987.

Meanwhile, Tom Brady, is chasing the marks of a contemporary (Peyton Manning) and an all-time great (Dan Marino). With two scoring passes against the Ravens Monday night, Brady is just eight short of tying Peyton Manning’s record (49). He figures to have a tougher chance of eclipsing Marino's mark for most passing yards in a season (5,084).
